Nizhny Novgorod Metro (before 1992: Gorky Metro) is an underground transport system of Nizhny Novgorod. It is the 3-rd metro system in Russia, the 10-th metro in USSR. In 2012, Nizhny Novgorod Metro system consisted of 14 stations, 18,9 km of tracks and it carried around 130,000 passengers on a week day.
Formed in 1984, the metro staff had their training in a technical college of the city of Gorky. The first train drivers, station managers, electricians gained their experience in Leningrad, Moscow and Kharkiv metro systems.
