Almaty Metro

The first line section of Almaty Metro came into passenger service on December 1, 2011. The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev participated in the inauguration ceremony.

The people of Kazakhstan take pride in their underground system that was built in the times of crisis of the young country. Almaty Metro is one of the sights of the capital city.

In the first 6 hours of operation, Almaty Metro carried over 10,000 passengers. At present, the average daily ridership amounts to 16,000 - 17,000 passengers.
